Remote Learning for Spring 2 2020

During the lockdown weekly overviews for the home learning for Beech and Oak classes will be uploaded below. These will outline the home learning for maths [4 activities], English [4 activities] and phonics [4 activities] for that week. It will also include a topic project activity linked to our topic - Would a Bog Baby survive in our school grounds? There will also be optional activities in Science, PE and an additional wider curriculum subject.

We understand that parents may have multiple siblings at home during a time of lockdown and may also be expected to work from home themselves, therefore we have attempted to create tasks for the children that they will require little support with, to minimise the need for adult assistance. Usually all your child will require to access the activities is a pencil, some paper and on occasion internet access.

If needed further explanations of individual learning activities for the upcoming week will be shared via the pupils Seesaw app along with an expectation of how to respond.

We kindly ask parents to capture a minimum of 2 examples of work created and to upload images of your child’s work via their child’s Seesaw profile no later than Thursday 6pm. The activities that we would like you to upload are indicated on the weekly overview in red text. Staff will post comments on these uploads each Friday. Any work submitted later than this deadline may not receive a response until the following week.

During a lockdown period it is increasingly difficult to provide books from school as we aim to minimise the risk of further spreading the virus. Therefore we would encourage parents to use the Oxford Owl reading site to access the schools reading system. The link is below and allows the children to continue reading at the correct book banded colour free of charge. https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/free-ebooks/  You may also choose to video your child reading each week and share this with their class teacher. Please also see the ongoing lockdown reading activity on Seesaw.

Thank you for your support with home learning during this difficult time.
